If you’re heading up or down from Mount Teide towards the southern coast of Tenerife, make a quick stop in Vilaflor to meet Pino Gordo—the island’s largest and oldest Canary pine. Standing over 45 metres tall and with a trunk circumference of nearly 10 metres, this tree is a true natural monument.
You don’t need more than 10–15 minutes to admire it, snap some photos, and take in the crisp mountain air. There’s a small parking area nearby and a short, easy path leading right to the tree, so it’s a perfect leg-stretching break on your journey.
It’s a simple stop, but standing beside this gentle giant will make you feel tiny in the best possible way. 🌲
